Potential Career Paths

The Labor Studies program provides students with knowledge about issues related to work, workers, and employment relationships. The major aims to provide students with an opportunity to learn more about the nature of work, the management of work, the problems of working people, and what workers have done, both individually and collectively, to address those problems. Therefore, students can pursue career paths in a variety of fields such as: Diversity Specialist, Public Policy Advocacy, Mediator or Arbitrator, Labor Standards Certification Specialist, Researcher, or Human Resources Specialist.

Admissions Requirements

Students should transfer either once they have completed their A.A. or A.S. degree. Moreover, students who have previously attended a four-year institution and have earned approximately 60 credits are also invited to apply. Students are recommended to have a 3.0 GPA to be competitive for admissions.

Transferring Credits

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey will transfer a maximum of 60 credits or one-half of the total degree credits required for a baccalaureate degree from a NJ county college to a Rutgers degree program for those students who have completed an A.A. or A.S. degree. Please visit the NJ Transfer website at www.njtransfer.org to look up the Recommended Transfer Program (RTP) for any undergraduate major at Rutgers. Students may be awarded up to 90 credits if they are transferring from a four-year institution.

Ready to Apply?

We strongly encourage that students meet with one of our advisors prior to transferring to ensure their eligibility. Students who are ready to transfer to one of our 11 undergraduate programs should fill out the Rutgers Undergraduate Application. When filling out the application, students should indicate that they have earned about 60-119 credits. Otherwise, students may not be able to see our programs as a selectable choice.
