Transferring Credits

Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice at Rutgers-Atlantic Cape Community College

For students interested in transferring into the Bachelor of Arts Criminal Justice program offered at Rutgers in Mays Landing, completion of the following Atlantic Cape Community College courses are recommended before enrollment:

  • CRIM101 – Introduction to Criminal Justice
  • CRIM105 – Police Operations
  • CRIM106 – Introduction to Corrections
  • CRIM130 – The Criminal Court System
  • MATH121 – Applications of Math –OR– MATH122 – College Algebra
  • SPAN112 – Elementary Spanish II or any other second-semester foreign language course (e.g.FREN112, ITAL112, SGNL102)

The above courses should be completed as part of or in addition to an associate’s degree program. Completion of an Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degree is strongly recommended before transferring. The Associate in Science Criminal Justice degree is the recommended associate’s degree program at Atlantic Cape which includes most of the above courses as part of that program. Completion of an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree is not recommended.

Students may transfer up to 60 credits from a community college to University College-Rutgers Camden and must receive a grade of C or better for a course to be transferred in. A minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA is recommended to be considered for admission.

For students who have not completed the Criminal Justice (A.S.) associate’s degree at Atlantic Cape Community College, it is recommended to consult with a Rutgers at Atlantic Cape advisor prior to applying to transfer to discuss transfer eligibility.

Courses for the Criminal Justice degree at Rutgers at Atlantic Cape Community College are a combination of courses taught in class at the ACCC-Mays Landing campus and online courses. Students interested in transferring into this program should be comfortable with taking some online courses.
