Transferring Credits

Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Rutgers-Atlantic Cape Community College

For students interested in transferring into the RN to BS in Nursing program offered at Rutgers in Mays Landing, completion of the following Atlantic Cape Community College courses are recommended before enrollment. While they are not required to be considered for admission, they all meet the bachelor’s degree requirements: 

  • •CHEM100 –Intro to College Chemistry (or any other college-level transferable Chemistry course)

  • •HESC108 –Fundamentals of Nutrition

  • •BIOL104 –Bioethics

  • •MATH220 –Statistics

  • •HIST101 or HIST102 –Heritage of the Western World I or II – Heritages & Civilizations (HAC) Requirement

  • •PSYC225 –Human Development

  • An Art, Music, Theater, or English Literature Course (AAI course)–Confirm that the course meets the Rutgers-Camden Art and Aesthetic Interpretation (AAI) Gen Ed requirement on www.njtransfer.org

  • Three free electives – confirm transferability on www.njtransfer.org

  • Any one of the courses below – Global Communities (GCM) requirement

    • ANTH103 –Cultural Anthropology

    • GEOG110 –World Geography

    • RELG110 –World Religions

After enrolling at Rutgers, students are permitted to take select required courses for the RN to BS program prior to completing the NCLEX exam. Students are encouraged to complete the NCELX exam as soon as possible to avoid any delays in completing the curriculum.

This transfer program is designed for students who have successfully completed the Associates in Applied Science in Nursing at Atlantic Cape Community College. It is recommended that the above courses be completed as part of or in addition to the AAS Nursing program.

Students are encouraged to apply for the Conditional Admit RN to BS Express Program at Atlantic Cape which will allow for the transfer of additional coursework to satisfy Rutgers requirements. A grade of C or better is required to receive transfer credit. Students must take a minimum of 30 credits at Rutgers to receive a degree.

It is strongly recommended to consult with an Atlantic Cape Nursing Advisor and Rutgers at Atlantic Cape Advisor prior to applying to transfer to discuss transfer eligibility.

Courses for the RN to BS Nursing program at Rutgers at Atlantic Cape are a combination of courses taught in-class at the Atlantic Cape-Mays Landing campus and online courses. Students interested in transferring into this program should be comfortable with taking some online courses. In-person courses are typically scheduled on Mondays.
